For many of our residents it will be the first time in years that they will sit down to a nutritious holiday meal in a safe, sober and loving home. As you prepare for Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones we hope you will take a moment to help the women of Turning Point experience the warmth and dignity of this day throughout the year.

Since 1971, Turning Point has helped women recover from alcoholism with the help of donations from people like you. A crucial part of our philosophy has been to never turn away a woman in need for lack of funding, and we don’t intend to start now.

But in order to do that we need your support. Please help us this year by giving a donation to The Turning Point Home. We hope we can count on you for a generous donation of $100 or more.  We are pleased to announce that we now offer a recurring donation option to spread your payment over the entire year. Your gift will make a real difference for us as we make our plans for 2012. Planned, prepared and hosted by our residents, the event raised more than $2200 for the resident's fund, which is kept separate from the house operating account and is earmarked for outings, special events and items to enrich the quality of life for the residents.

Janet Knotts, our Executive Director said, “The residents worked really hard to make this Pancake Breakfast a huge success and a very special day for all who attended." Thanks go to all who contributed items for the raffle and to Tania Kacha of Hob Nob Hill Restaurant who once again donated the bacon, sausage and pancake mix. The door prize, an IPod Touch®, was won by a long time friend of Turning Point, Diane C.

Once again at the Bay View Restaurant located on board the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, the 42nd Anniversary event will include a silent auction, opportunity drawings and a two entree buffet meal. Tickets will go on sale in mid-April.

Thanksgiving Wishes

This Thanksgiving we are particularly mindful of your generous and loving support and want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the gifts of your time, talent and treasure throughout the year. Pancake Breakfast Hosted by Residents
Despite a bit of rain, the Fall Pancake Breakfast came off without a hitch on Saturday, October 30.  The breakfast was entirely planned, hosted and prepared by our residents, and over 180 guests gathered for a hearty breakfast and a chance to help Turning Point. The event raised more than $1700 for the resident's fund, which is kept separate from the house operating account and is earmarked for outings, special events and items to enrich the quality of life for the residents.

A special thanks to all who contributed items for the raffle and to Tania Kacha of Hob Nob Hill Restaurant who once again donated the eggs, bacon, sausage and pancake mix. The door prize, an IPod Touch®, was won by long time Turning Point supporter Patrick Sweeney of Del Mar.

Former Pan AM Flight Attendants Keep on Giving
World Wings International continues its generous support of Turning Point Home by hosting fundraisers throughout the year. On Friday, October 29th a bingo luncheon was held at the lovely home of Glee Thomson and Patrick Sweeney and they are planning their annual holiday dinner party and blind auction in early December – all to benefit the residents of Turning Point!

  • Annual Spaghetti Dinner and “Raffle-mania” : Saturday, April 16th, 2010 from 5pm to 8pm. War Memorial Building, Balboa Park
  • Butterfly Banquet : Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Bay View Restaurant, MCRD San Diego.
We will send out all the details later this winter– until then we send our best wishes for a warm and joyous holiday season.
