Karen Ryman-Riley, President

Karen Riley graduated from Western State University College of Law, now Thomas Jefferson School of Law, in 1980.  She is a former attorney now working in the California court system.  Together with working and raising two teenage sons she has been an active member of the Board of Directors of The Turning Point Home since 1987.

Timothy S. Lucey, Vice President

Tim Lucey is a Sr. Consultant with Forward Slope, Inc. with an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio and certificates in Project Management (PMP) and Systems Engineering.  He earned his Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of St. Thomas, and is a retired U.S. Marine Corps Major.  Tim has spent 20+ years volunteering for various non-profit agencies including Toys for Tots, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and now The Turning Point Home.

Andrew Audet, Secretary

 

Debra Champagne,Treasurer

Debra Champagne has a long affiliation with women's recovery programs. She has been working and volunteering with non-profits and government for 30 years in healthcare, education and the arts.  Debra began a financial career in Canada where she became a Certified General Accountant. She is currently writing exams to obtain the CPA credential. Debra has managed a successful consulting practice for the past 10 years, providing small businesses with accounting, software and training services. She brings extensive fundraising and financial strength to the Turning Point Board.

Michael J. Somerville, Director

Mike “Mickey” Somerville is currently Manager of Systems Support at the University of San Diego (USD) in the Information Technology Services department. His team is responsible for the architecture and administration of the entire IT infrastructure on campus including all servers, datacenters, network storage, etc.

Mickey is constantly looking for ways to give back to his community and the world. He is on the board of directors of several profit and not-for-profit companies and now Turning Point Home and is a guest speaker for bachelor and masters classes in information technology and business. His passion for helping others has driven him to be one of the most compassionate Executive Life Coaches in southern California via his newest company, AMAZ!NG consulting and coaching.

Prior to his current position at USD, Mickey owned his own IT consulting companies in San Diego and San Felipe, Baja California, Mexico, which provided high-speed wireless Internet to families living in 100% Solar powered communities. Previously Mickey spent 20 years in the Radio industry, early on as an on-air personality and then as Director of Engineering for several major market (top 20) radio stations. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from San Diego State University and a Master of Science in Executive Leadership (MSEL) from The University of San Diego in May of 2010.

Kathy Brown, Director

Kathy Brown is a Registered Nurse with her Associates Degree in Nursing from Soutwest College.  She works in surgical orthopedics at Kaiser Permanente Medical Group.  She has spent more than 20 years providing volunteer services with non-profit agencies including many recovery-related programs.

Kim Eisenberg, MSW, Director

Ms. Eisenberg is the project manager for an NIH-funded research study evaluating the effectiveness of Screening and Brief Intervention for illicit drug users. She earned her master’s in Social Work Administration from San Diego State University and her bachelor’s in Sociology from Towson University. She also has an AAS in chemical dependency counseling and completed an internship and additional training at the Center for Addiction and Pregnancy at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Ms. Eisenberg has over ten years of experience in human services, with a particular emphasis on drug treatment and prevention for high-risk populations. She also has an extensive background in organizational development and human resource consulting, and is currently an independent career counselor and resume writer.
